What Is The Fastest Way To Get Rid Of Fruit Flies In Houston?
There are few pests that can drive people as crazy as fruit flies. There is something maddening about tiny specks zipping in front of you while you're trying to watch a movie or trying to enjoy a video game. And there is something unsettling about accidentally inhaling a tiny insect on your way to grab something out of the fridge. You wouldn't think that an insect as tiny as a fruit fly could be much of a problem but boy is it ever! especially if it decides to create a swarm inside your Houston home. If you're dealing with these irritating and unsettling pests, we have some good news: it is fairly easy to resolve a fruit fly infestation.
Getting Rid Of Fruit Flies In Two Steps
1. Remove any breeding sites inside your home. Fruit flies can breed extremely fast. If they're finding an appropriate breeding site in your home, you're not going to be able to kill them fast enough to break the cycle of infestation. Some common breeding sites for fruit flies include kitchen trash, fruit left out, overripe vegetables (like potatoes), empty bottles and cans, rotting organic matter in a garbage disposal or drain, and mop tips.
2. Once you've got breeding sites under control, it is time to start killing fruit flies. The best way to do this is with fruit fly traps.
(note) Be careful about how you make your traps. There are some bad fruit fly trap designs on the internet. As an example, you may learn that you can just put apple cider vinegar into bowls and place them out for fruit flies to feed on. When the flies come to drink, they'll break the surface tension, slide in and drown. This is true to a certain extent. You will kill a few flies this way and you're going to see them floating in your traps and think you're winning the battle. But the flies that don't die will have all the energy they need to breed like crazy in your home. Don't feed those flies. Make sure your trap has a cover or an appropriate amount of dish soap, preferably both.
There Are Four Components To A Fruit Fly Trap:
1. A glass pickle jar or canning jar.
2. A plastic covering over the top with some pencil tip-sized holes in the top. You may also poke holes in the tin cover of a pickle jar or canning jar. Whatever works for you.
3. A tasty mixture of high carb happiness inside. Fruit flies are drawn to fermenting fruits so apple cider works well. You only need about ΒΌ of the jar filled with vinegar.
4. A little bit of dish soap. You won't need much. Just about 5 or 6 drops.
If you place these jars in your kitchen, you'll see great results fast.
